running...running... running...

i've decided i want to be a runner. yes, a runner. every year after the race for the cure i say the same thing and guess what... it all goes by the way side and i never do it. but, i want to be a runner and i want to run a marathon well ladies, this girl is nowhere close to completing a marathon. i was happy with my 3.1 miler on sunday. but this year, i really truly mean that i am going to do the running thing. i would have gone to the gym on monday, but my body was so sore from those 3 miles that i couldn't move. apparently the elliptical and spin class does not prepare the body for running. so last night i went and used my equinox membership and ran on the treadmill. ok, maybe not run exactly, but i did jog at a decent pace. and i plan on heading back tonight. i'm going to try and get to the gym at least 2x a week for running (i already try to do twice a week with my trainer so i should be able to do that) and then try and go for a run outside on the weekend weather permitting. we'll see how this goes...

If you are really serious and want to run a marathon, you should look into Team in Training. It is a marathon training/running thing, they train you and pay for your marathon (anywhere, even Hawaii if you want), and you raise money for leukemia. Lauren Wildberger did it, and now she is a runner and has already done 3 marathons I think. I went to the information meetings and almost did it but chickened out, I really am a BAD runner =)

yeah, i've looked at team in training, but you have to raise SO much money that it is so daunting to me i just don't know. but i really kind of want to... maybe i'll look in to that when i get to chicago!

i've heard great things about team in training. in fact, nearly everyone i know who has run marathons, has done at least their first through team in training.

i want to, but think i have to wait a few more years until i have the schedule to accommodate the training. in the mean time, i'm happy with the little runs i do...

but goooo katherine...people love running in chicago!
