chicago is known for its summers and the various street festivals that happen every weekend. the belmont/sheffield festival was at the end of may and kicked off the chicago street festival season. it was a lot of fun. i met katie and kyle there for an afternoon of sun, drinking, and music. check off all of the above, but minus the warmth. it had been warm the day before and so i decided it was going to be warm that day and thus donned a sundress. i froze. oh well. it was almost june (sunday, may 31st), i wanted to not wear a fleece for once! katie and i met at sheffield's and we headed in to wait at the bar in the outdoor beer garden area. upon getting to the bar, this super drunky drunk decides he wants to do a shot and asks if we want one too. a free shot? sure. this guy and his friend were dorks, but free is free when you are broke. then kyle came and we headed in so she could get some lunch. from there we wandered around listening to the music... and bumped in to miller and his buddy ryan. ok, so we didn't so much as bump in to per se... i knew he'd be there as he'd been texting me. but kyle wasn't thrilled to see him and i wanted to talk to him, so katie and kyle headed off and i stayed around to talk to the guys. turns out miller's buddy had lived in kalispell for 2 years. random... not while i'd been there but still. we had fun chatting, and i kind of got the feeling that miller was annoyed. i'm not sure how to explain why it felt that way, it just kind of did. in any case, around dinner time, we headed to chipotle and had some tacos. his buddy went home (he lives around the corner from me) and i walked down belmont to get back to my house with miller. we said goodbye and he said, see, you can tell kyle that i didn't even try to get you to go home with me tonight! and to be honest, i don't really know how to take that... he's always trying to tell me kyle is exaggerating and just doesn't like him and kyle is always telling me he's no good. i don't know who is right and i don't really care. but, then after he said that i thought it was either to prove to me he's not who kyle says he is or that he really was annoyed by me and ryan getting along or whatever. i have no idea. we've since texted, and really... it's not a big deal, but just another example of me having no idea what the heck boys are all about...
sorry - no pics from this event... will be sure to document future festivals.

this whole thing about Miller and Kyle is all very West Side Story!
I keep picturing her singing that song that Anita sings to Maria in West Side Story called "A Boy Like That"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2lG1Q4V4JU
