derby. derby. derby! part 1.

on thursday, kyle, johan (kyle's friend who i had met a couple times), and i all drove to louisville for a weekend of horsies and drinking. it's about a 4.5 hr drive or so, but not too bad. we arrived around 7:30 to kyle's dad's house (er, monticello look alike mansion) just in time to crash a catered dinner party he was hosting. think: everyone totally dressed up in semi formal attire and us coming in with flip flops and 4.5 hr car ride attire. so we said hello, got some wine from the bartender and headed downstairs to our apartment for the trip.

at the dinner party, i met kyle's dad and stepmom, ingrid, and her sister (of southern belles fame), shea. i don't even have enough room to tell you guys about shea - let's just say that she and kyle are total opposites and nothing alike. and then we met shea's date, craig. and when we heard the word date, we were all... what?! cause if this guy wasn't flaming gay, then none of us knew what was! he was fab-u-lous. and one point he was telling us about the 5 course dinner and i said something about how full he must be and he goes "oh honey, i don't eat it all! i push it around my plate... less to throw up later!!". oh my. i loved him. kyle hated him once he said something to her about being just like her sister. whoops.

then we went and met up with kyle's brother, john. they are best friends and we had a lot of fun out at the bars. sheri also joined us (she's from lexington and was the 4th person in our group). so we headed over to brendans (a bar) for dinner and then went to molly malone's for more drinks. after that, we headed back to kyle's dad's place and called it a night... it was going to be a big weekend!!

Woah. That's a house with grounds--not quite a yard!
Looks like a fun start to your trip.
