the run for hot chocolate

this town is great. we run for chocolate. literally! this was the first year of the race and you could choose to run a 5k or a 15k. alice and i chose the 5k. devon was supposed to join us, but apparently her sweet tooth was acting up as she decided not to do the race after all. the race got off to a little stressful start as alice called me at 7 to ask if i was on my way - ummm, no! oops! i had screwed up the whole time change thing and my alarm didn't go off!! so i quickly got dressed and went to pick up alice and we were on our way. until we hit traffic. ugh, really? other people driving too?! no way!! the parking was a nightmare, but we eventually found a spot with about 10 mins to go until race time. phew! we got to the starting line just before the 15k'ers took off and then about 5 mins later, we got to start our race. it was really pretty! but not well organized...we gave them slack since it was their first year and all. the worst part of the course was all the duck poo - it was almost unavoidable. yuck!! stupid ducks. anyways, after the race, we went to the tent to get our chocolate! they had a chocolate fountain with graham crackers, bananas, and marshmallows to dip. they also had hot chocolate and an array of hershey's chocolate products! yum! they handed out reese's peanut butter cups, those minis that have the goodbar, krunch, and regular, twizzlers, and a bunch of other things. i was annoyed bc they had boxes of whatchamacallits and other good things and yet they weren't handing those out. boo! but, whatever, i had more than enough chocolate for a few days. it was a fun race!
