arrived: thursday late evening, the 21st. i was supposed to get in earlier, but alas united would not let me on the plane b/c my bag didn't make the 45 min cut off time. grrrr. i was 6 mins late due to my own lagging, the cab lagging in picking me up, and stop and go traffic on the way to ORD. so, i had to go standby for the next flight that was overbooked. i got a lovely united lady who told me: next time you won't be late now will you?! right. thanks, lady. so helpful. biotch. anyways, luckily i managed to procure a seat on that flight that was about an hour and a half later... not so luckily i was way in the back, in the middle. oh well!
friday, the 22nd: spent the afternoon with catherine and lucy! since it was yucky and raining, we went to the westside indoor mall and ate at the food court. then went shopping around. afterwards, we stopped by their new house and got the full tour. i'd seen it before they'd officially moved in. such a great house!! and then they dropped me back at sarah's and shanan picked me up. we headed over to 3rd st promenade and had a couple drinks while we waited for sarah to get off work.

it was a yucky rainy day, so we headed for the indoor hotspot: the mall! after some yummy high class panda express fare, we headed to the disney store to replace lu's lost tinkerbell doll. said new doll was soon naked and missing a shoe!

lu is such a great shopper! she patiently played with tinkerbell while her mom and i tried on matching cute brown flat boots (on sale of course!) and then both bought them... they're super cute. later i found out sarah also had a pair! so much for originality, but then again...great minds think alike, right?! and then, lucy showed me the puppies... mom had forgotten her phone in nordstrom and had to go back to find it...so lucy and i happily looked at all the poor puppies in little cages wanting to go home... (so cute & so sad!)
we then headed back to her house, got dressed and the three of us headed over to dinner at el cholo. dinner was full of friends (aj and his date/gf? stacey, preston, erin, me, sarah, and shanan), drinks and yummy food... and then surprise!!! flan came out with a candle, happy birthday got sung, and mini cupcakes brought by erin, arranged by sarah came out!! YUMMY!!!!!! everyone knows i LOVE cupcakes... after dinner, we headed to preston's where we very obviously needed more drinks and to play kings. i decided to play with wine. yes, wine. ian joined us (as his flight had gotten in) and so did his cousin, erik. at some point, blueberries and grapes came out... supposedly for eating...more likely for throwing down people's shirts... and by people's i mean me and sarah's. i'll let the pictures and captions tell the rest of the story...

that's preston, shanan, and aj for those of you who don't know these guys. this is clearly at the beginning of dinner...as we are still sober...

now that is a helluva lucky guy if you ask me... he even got to sit there all dinner long!

back at preston's place, you can see we've all had our fair share of tequila...this is before we even started to play kings, i think. maybe during...

aaaaaand, this is what happens when you have too many margs & play kings with wine...then try throwing blueberries and grapes at eachother (or in ian's case, down girls' shirts)... and then someone (i think sarah) captures the entire sequence on film... and pictures like this end up!!

and then the chair flips over cause ian won't let you up and the struggle leads to a date with the floor... and then he won't let you up cause he's about 1000x stronger than you are... but it's really really funny so we were dying laughing....

and see?? now i'm stuck on the floor and can't get up! yeah, this is such normal behavior, but i'm still cracking up! fun night....just one suggestion...don't play kings with wine! and don't set out food that is easily thrown/smashed!

saturday, the 23rd: wedding day. since the wedding was supposed to start at 4:30 in remote malibu, sarah had arranged cabs for a whole heckuva lot of us to head over there together at 3 from the loews in santa monica. sarah and i got ready and then rushed over there to be on time. good thing we did, b/c everyone took forrrrrrrrrrever to finally gather in the lobby!! eventually, we all got on the road to head north in three full cabs.
don't us ladies look lovely?! i have no idea who the girl on the far left is... but the rest of them are as follows: sam (matt's lovely new bride), sarah, melissa (brent's gf), erin (pfarm's gf), me, cara (steve flores' gf), and ashley (dave's fiance)
the ceremony was held outdoors at calimigos ranch in malibu and then the reception was indoors. thankfully it stopped raining and they had heat lamps so we didn't freeze! the ceremony started about 30 mins late... not sure why... but whatever... once it started it was lovely... and short... and soon they were announcing mr and mrs kurt lentz.

the ceremony was in this beautiful outdoor area...
then it was time for the reception. there were delicious little yummy finger foods and champagne passed around...not to mention a full bar in the back corner by the dance floor. they introduced the bridal party and they were all out on the dance floor - the little kids - sophie and addy were dancing around and then the ring bearer was really dancing! he was doing little breakdancing moves and was hilarious!!

we've clearly found the bar: sarah, me, ashley, and erin

me and sam, matt's wife - she made her necklace - it was gorgeous!!

me with the bride... her dress was beautiful!
we milled about for awhile and then it was time for the sit down dinner. ian, sarah, brent, melissa, some other guy whose name i'm blanking on where all seated at table 5. dinner was good -i had the steak. the shots started during dinner... oh yes... the drinks/shots were definitely flowing! then the speeches started... nothing all that memorable though evan (kurt's brother) gave a very nice one and i must admit, i don't really remember them either b/c i wasn't listening and/or i was too drunk and/or i was doing shots at the bar. hmmm. anyways...

at dinner... kurt and anne shared a kiss while brent and melissa's attention was clearly on something else... who knows...

shot! shot! shot! shot!! you know that song?? yeah, this picture makes me think of that... this was the first of many that we all did.
dancing soon followed. oh and dancing did we do!! so much fun. and with the dancing came more shots... what were those pinky orange things?! and lemon drops... and more drinks... though once i started dancing, i think i stuck to shots. my brilliant thinking was that i can do a shot and then dance without having to worry about spilling!

i absolutely love this one of aj and sarah!

the tiara belonged to the little girls...ian claimed it as his for a bit... dave, ashley, brent and melissa completed the picture

yeaaaaaah, dancing!! we were all dancing machines... most of the pics didn't turn out very well... and i tried to document, oh well... too many shots!

dancing dancing dancing...

my turn for the tiara! ian purposely was showing some leg... and making faces all night long...pretty sure there isn't a 'normal' face in the bunch of pictures from that night! hilarious.

sarah danced with the little ones... in this case, adam hoyt jumped in to be pulled around the dance floor too!

yeah, no idea... but i think it's really funny!
after the wedding/reception ended about 10:30, we all climbed in to cabs and most of us headed for after drinks at loews. i would have gone out, but loews it was. probably a good thing - how much trouble can you get in to there?! besides the security guard telling you he was getting noise complaints and we'd have to quiet down and move on... whoops. it was a super fun evening...

back at loews... not sure why aj has his leg on the table, but fitting for the after party and as many drinks as we all had!!
sunday, the 24th: hangover/football/relax day. after we pulled ourselves out of bed, we eventually all made our way to the loews where many folks stayed. there, we ate a very expensive brunch but the view was incredible!! and then somewhere along the line i hear sarah say she wants to take a ride on the motorcycle, wait what?! i want a ride too! so sarah went out with ian on aj's bike for a ride. and then it was my turn (yes, i wore my helmet!). i've never been on a motorcycle before... only on a moto (a scooter like dealio in thailand/cambodia that definitely does not go very fast). in all honesty, i'm afraid of motorcycles and i've never liked them. but here was my chance to try one out...so i figured, why the hell not?! ian took me on a short ride, i held on with a death grip around his waist, and up and down ocean blvd in santa monica we went. it was scary, thrilling, and wow, you just have to trust whoever is driving it... unfortunately, i have no pictures to show of me on it... but here is what the bike looked like:

ian said it was a triumph... a british bike. ok, but means not much to me since i have no clue about motorcycles at all!
after my ride, i joined everyone in the bar area to watch some football... dave is a big jets fan and they were playing the colts. i watched some... and then would go outside with the various ladies: ashley, erin, and sarah. it was fun to just hang out with everyone. and it was a gorgeous day to sit outside too... absolutely beautiful and sunny and warm (to me!) with a stunning view of the beach and ocean... oh it made me miss la! once the game was over, people started to leave... so we said goodbye to dave and ashley who were headed to see dave's sister in pasadena, brent and melissa who were headed back home to san diego, shanan who went to visit another buddy, preston and erin heading back to his place, aj and ian who was headed back to sf....and me and sarah who headed back to her place for a movie and nap.
later that evening mrs sarah macschwendy drove down to SM and the two sarahs and i got to hang out and chat. smac and i then headed to dinner so sarah could eat tacos and get some work done. sushi was yummy, but we ordered so many spicy things my mouth was on fire!! holy moly, that place did not mess around with their spiciness!! we walked back to sarah's from main st and hung out for a bit longer before it was time to say goodbye. i am SO thrilled sarah drove all the way from glendale to come hang out. it meant the world to see her!!
Monday, the 25th: orange county day! sarah was super nice and allowed me to drive to work with her so that i could take the car home and then head to orange county to see courtney and jess. i got to san clemente just before noon and courtney, alex and i walked over to sundried tomato which is in a cute shopping center very close to their house. the last time i came to visit we all met there too so it is quickly becoming our thing to do. we even sit in the same corner so that alex can move around and play without getting in to too much trouble. unfortunately i didn't get to meet anthony (again!) b/c he was sick with an icky cold. someday i'll meet this little guy of jess'!! jess soon joined us at the restaurant and we got down to catching up on all things fun. it was a great lunch. it was then time to say goodbye and head back to court's house. on the way, there is a frozen yogurt shop and it distracted the cute little man who stopped, pointed and said 'fro yo!'. haha, so cute... so we stopped for a little treat. back at the house, i was treated to elmo going peepee and poopoo in the potty dvd while courtney and i chatted and looked at pictures from the various weddings. all too soon it was time to head back to LA....

at our favorite spot at sundried tomato!

trying to get alex to pose with us was kinda a challenge!

but i love munchkin's face in this one!!! how cute is this guy?!

ooooooooooooh pumpkin! no tears!! i love court's smile... alex def had those crocodile tears...he wanted to keep playing with the water that he'd dumped all over himself... mom said no. meanie!!!

we had an all out tickle war!!! and i made him take a picture with me... he is such a fun little boy to throw around and tickle....don't grow up too fast... b/c then i won't be able to hang you upside down...or i'll just need to lift more weights!

TICKLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's mommy, alex and harrison!!! and sad sad, it's time to go home...
that evening, i played tennis with erin (preston's gf) and her friends, mackenzie and dave. yes, i played tennis. well i tried anyways. after erin assured me that she wasn't very good and that it was all just for fun anyways, i agreed to be their 4th. yeah, i hadn't played since i was like 10.... but after a bit of a lesson from dave and mackenzie (who were awesome sports), i did ok! we did play just for fun, no one was too serious, and i had a great time. afterwards, we all went for beers and hung out for a bit. dave offered to show my resume around town if i sent it to him and all three kept telling me i should move to LA. ummmmm, oh man. well, i did email my resume to dave today... who knows... if something comes of it, i'll deal with that later.... until then, i'm not going to worry about it.
i also learned that mackenzie is mat chambers' younger sister - he was a cmc'er who dated lisa schamel for like 5 or 6 years... and that dave is the grandson of a screenwriter named millard kaufman who wrote two oscar nominated movies for mgm and also created mr magoo. kinda cool!
erin and i decided that sarah needs to be the 4th next time they play and that she and dave should get to know each other... i think he's great and would be excellent for her to get to know! what a fun last evening in LA...
