this is our hotel. easily my favorite place we stayed. it was so cute and there was a restaurant and also a separate bar where you could get pizza at night and pastries in the morning.
me and andrew's room on the top floor. we had wooden beams and a skylight in the bedroom and bathroom!
mom and dad had a suite on the floor below us complete with a balcony.
view from their balcony.
another view from their balcony. not bad, eh?!
we took a quick trip over to loppia which is where my mom's grandmother came from. this is the church she attended.
this is the loppia cemetary (a 5 min drive from barga) where the bonacorsis are buried.
this is back in barga at the duomo.
mom decides to preach...
as did carl.
the duomo.
i thought the roof tiles were pretty
a view from the old town of barga.
headed back down to the new part of barga.
i didn't go to this part of the day - this is mom at the cemetery where carlo pieroni and his wife umliana are buried. to be honest, i know i'm related to them somehow, but i can't remember how...
and that night, we ate pizza at the hotel's bar and carl's cousin, raymond, and his wife, joan, joined us! they live in scotland and carl hadn't seen them since his last trip in 73! they were so nice. joan couldn't be cuter and their scottish accents were amazing.
