venice part due

on our second day in venice, we started the day of leisurely as we had nothing we had to do at a certain time. some folks were in need of clean clothes so we decided to attempt an italian lavandaria!


it seemed as if there were enough people trying to sort the clothes and figure out the machines, so i sat back and took a few pics. how many people does it take to figure it all out?! since this literally took allllll morning in to the early afternoon, we all took turns sitting there and watching our stuff while others went out and about to go shopping or for a walk.


this is a pretty cool clock - it's hard to tell from the picture, but it is actually a 24 hour clock.


after laundry & shopping, mom and i found a take out pizza place and decided to go for it. we scarfed our pizzas and then were ready for a nappy nap. after the nap, we headed over to st mark's square for some more sight seeing.

me and mom. after the rain. we got there just in time to take a few pics, then there was a downpour and we ran for cover. we window shopped as we waited for the rain to subside. once it did, we took a few more pics and then went to the vapporatto and rode back to the rialto bridge.


the gondolas. we thought about taking a ride, but then that rain and the big waves started and we all just decided that we didn't really need to take a gondola ride.

on the rialto bridge. we found some beautiful hand made venetian glass light fixtures and since the whole house is being redone we thought it be super cool to have nifty unique glass fixtures to remind us of the trip. so we searched around to make sure those were the ones - and they were. unfortunately we forgot to take pictures and they are being shipped. but i'll take some when they get hung up in the house!


we went to dinner at another restaurant across from our hotel and not far from the place we'd eaten the night before. while we were sitting outside, a guy came by with his huge great dane. look how big that guy is!!


and since animals seem to be a theme (btw, these animal pics as well as some others come from mom's camera)... here's me with a kitty. just don't tell otis!
