our super odd villa

since it was a last minute trip and also spring break, we didn't have a ton of housing options when it came to getting a 3 bedroom (ideal) hotel room/villa or even a 2 bedroom. that said, the pictures that were on the internet definitely had some excellent photography going on in the place that we ended up staying. the site called it 'unique' and that doesn't even begin to cover how 'unique' this place was!! it was a villa in the middle of the coral gardens resort which was nice in that it offered a restaurant nearby and dive shop and 'resort' amenities.

the front, according to the website.

our photo: not bad, eh?! only the sign to the left of the stairs seemed to confuse loads of people b/c that was the dive shop and people kept climbing the stairs thinking our villa was the shop. nope, sorry folks. not up here. mildly annoying to have your breakfast, lunch, nap interrupted by someone looking for snorkel gear!

see? dive shop, below. not up the steps!

website: the light bright and airy dining/living room. see the door on the left - it's open in the pic. too bad it didn't open in real life. and also in real life, there is no barrier there and it drops several feet to the pool deck below... not so safe!

the real deal: dark, weird 70s style with the rock wall, the door leads to the stairs and locks! so you can lock people out from the dining room and they can't get out of the upstairs. weird. it's also different furniture. table above is round. this is rectangular.

website: light, bright and airy!

actual: granted, it's not a great photo. but this was by far the best room in the house b/c the ceilings were high and it was airy. and pretty bright. but it also had no privacy. there were no curtains on the front windows! so at night, when people were at the restaurant right next door, they could see everything!

this was a weird part of the hall in the downstairs bedroom.

this was my room.

andrew's bedroom

the upper right is the top deck of the restaurant. thankfully it wasn't too loud or annoying, but it definitely left something to be desired noise wise when they were closing and taking out the trash or being loud and annoying at the bar!

the outdoor balcony was lovely! the breeze fantastic.

the weird hallway in my parents' room. the sign was a classic! and the door was bolted shut. the glass block had clearly been painted since it was see thru. and the bathroom was split. in the bedroom was the shower. in the hallway area was the downstairs bathroom and sink.

gorgeous view and the chairs were comfy. definitely by far the best part of the villa!!

the stairway made me feel like i was in a mental hospital with all that cagey looking stuff!

if you went down the stairs, you got to the washer and dryer. the sign shows you that the washer is one direction and the dryer is the other!

going up, you got to this weird hallway that overlooked the living room and had a window. and nothing else. lovely view, totally a waste of space.

you had to go up more stairs and then back down a few to get to my room.

and here was the super awkwardly designed kitchen.

should you want more info on this super weird, can't even begin to tell you more about it home, it is for sale! one ad says 1.9 million... another says 1.5 million. we all agreed we wouldn't be buying this particular weird 60s/70s place nor are we hiring the architect!
