sarah came in on wed afternoon and after a tour of my place, we headed up to southport. i needed a baby shower present and southport has cute shops and tasty restaurants. so i thought we could peruse the shops and then get some dinner on an outdoor patio. we went to coobah which is a cuban restaurant with lovely outdoor seating and good food. since kyle lives just down the block, i invited her to join us - which she did. after a delicious dinner, we headed back to my house and just relaxed.
on thursday, we slept in and then chatted for awhile until the power just suddenly and randomly went out. what?! that never happens. it was out for prob about 30 mins! but, we both managed to get ready and the power came back and then we headed out for a walk along the lake. sarah must've brought the beautiful weather because it was definitely the nicest day i'd seen in awhile!! we walked down the the lincoln park zoo and then along with bus loads of little kids wandered around and saw the animals. it's a free zoo and i don't go very often, but we had fun walking around. after that, we headed to navy pier where we had decided to do an architecture cruise. we grabbed a nice leisurely lunch on navy pier first (outdoors of course!) and then went on our hour long boat tour. i'd done it before a couple years ago, and it's a fascinating tour chock full of information so i'm glad i had an opportunity to do it again.

my city is soo soo pretty... anyone else wanna come take a walk and a cool picture like this?!

the zoo! was a zoo... of kids!! my goodness, there was no shortage of kiddos on field trips! this is our free zoo which i think is awesome.

but, everyone was sleeping when we went... the big kitties...

the african wild dogs that sarah and i thought were rather weird zoo animals as they literally look like well, dogs. they were sleepy too.

well, finally! someone was awake! the warthog! isn't he um, beautiful?!

we had to pose with the ostriches & giraffes. they live together. we found this odd too. a cute mom took this pic - she was there on a 'skip day' with her daughter b/c she had made honor roll that semester. isn't that fun?!
after the boat tour, we walked over to michigan ave and went to nordstroms as we had a few minutes to kill before meeting devon at roof. the plan was to get a couple drinks at roof before devon went to see conan who was doing his show at the chicago theater that evening. devs got tickets thru work - lucky lady! but, we got to roof and unfortunately it was closed for a private party so we just went around the corner to argo tea instead. it was so fun to catch up with devs - i hadn't seen her adorable belly in awhile and she looked so cute! then it was time for devon to go meet her coworkers and sarah and i headed home - we packed a lot in and were quite tired! so to the couch it was... for the grey's finale... talk about a heart stopping pounder the whole way thru!!!! thank you sarah for watching with me even though it's not a show you usually watch!

pretty architecture!

oooooooooooooh....buildings!!

self portrait!

on the downtown streets of chicago... devs was off to see conan that night at the chicago theater which was right across the street.

on friday, sarah and i wandered around bucktown... and ate lunch over there at feast. we then headed for armitage st to check that out and then wound our way back to my house. then it was time for a luxurious pedi where this obnoxious girl was talking on her phone the entire time!! seriously!?!? omg, we were both ready to kill her... along with probably everyone else in there!!! later that evening, we went for a pizza dinner at lou malnati's and stuffed ourselves silly with pizza, salad and garlic cheesey bread!
saturday, sarah had to leave and i had to go to a baby shower. so i left her with directions on how to walk to the lake and my spare keys. i was hoping to make it back in time to say goodbye, but alas... i did not. but, as usual i was running late and sarah couldn't have been a bigger help to me by printing out directions, bringing me my dress, and other little things that just really helped me out! thank you!!!!!!!
i had so much fun while sarah was in town!! please come back!!!!!! and now, who's next?! who is coming to this awesome city to visit me?!?!?!
