As part of a bet that I lost, alex and I went to the hancock building for cocktails at sunset. We got up to the top (the 96th floor) and were seated at the bar, but the view wasn’t good. Alex said this wouldn’t do and asked the host if we could get a better table. He said it would be a slight wait, but we were definitely willing to wait. At 13 or 14 bucks a cocktail, danggit we wanted a view! We saw a couple getting ready to leave and we’re ecstatic b/c it was a great table right in front of the window on the west side of the building. Perfect! We enjoyed a couple martinis and some cheese and marveled at the view and everything that you could see. After the sun set, we left and went to dinner at mia francesca’s over on clark street near my house. Since it was a random Tuesday or wed, the place was not very crowded and we were asked if we’d like to sit in the carriage room. Having no idea what that was, we said ‘sure!’ and we were lead to the back of the restaurant, through some doors, out through the patio, and in to the converted carriage house where there was a small bar and maybe 8 or 10 tables max. it was terribly romantic and quiet and the food was delicious. It was such a fun evening!
