the culver connection.

this is a fun one...

a couple weeks ago, i got a facebook message from a guy i knew at culver. we were friendly back then, but i wouldn't say friends... it was a simple message saying hi, how are you type of thing and so i wrote back and responded. that turned in to many many emails and admissions that he'd had a crush on me during high school, but never had the balls to ask me out - even told me he thought i was out of his league. i told him i always had a little bit of a crush on him too back then. so that led to more emails and each of them was sweeter than the last. we talked about random stuff, the old days, what we were doing these days - he just bought his first place and is doing a complete remodeling overhaul so he was showing me pics and telling me about that and all kinds of other things.

one of my favorite parts of his emails: "One, you are were and still are amazing. That's the reason I had trouble. That and I didn't know that the feeling was mutual. Feel free to keep kicking but by the time you get here it's gonna be numb from my own feet. Two, glad to hear your keeping those legs firm. Good god, your legs alone were another reason you were out of my league.

But know that I know what I do, how bout this? I come up to Chicago sometime soon and help you paint away your yellow rooms, we grab a bite somewhere afterward and if there's something still there then we deal with that later. If not then I sleep on the couch again or get a room somewhere. I'm not looking to let another 14yrs go by Katherine."

so we decided on a weekend for him to come up. i was really hoping there would be something as what a fun story that would be! but, as the visit came closer and closer, i was getting more and more anxious and worried that things were moving a little too fast - he was calling for hours and texting and i don't know i was just feeling super apprehensive. i wasn't sure if it was just me being my skittish self or what it really was, but in any case it came time to his visit... and you'll have to read about that in my next post!
