i 'heart' billy & elton

elton john & billy joel concert
wrigley field, thursday, july 16th 7pm
john barleycorn 11ish? - no idea...

i'd been looking forward to this concert for a long time. i think i bought the tickets in january! i'd bought 2 then figuring someone would want to come with me. kyle had also bought two and so did devs. as the week approached, dev went to wi w/patrick and sold her tix and kyle and i decided to use hers and sell mine. i ended up selling my tickets to angie and wendy (a girl i went to high school with, but didn't know -she's angie's friend).

on the afternoon of the concert, i got an email from kyle saying would it be fun to have i love billy and i love elton shirts?! i thought: heck yeah! so i researched a place to find such a place that could do them cheaply and quickly. i found a place just north of me on clark near newport called strange cargo. i picked out the shirts (purple) and the writing (white w/fuzzy red heart) and 20 bucks and 20 minutes later, me and kyle had our shirts for the night! i left the store and went about my day. then i realized that angie and wendy might feel left out so i asked angie if they wanted one too and they were all in on the shirts. so i went back and got two more for us.

it started to rain as wendy and angie made their way to my house. grrrr. but by the time we picked up kyle at her place, the rain had stopped. the four of us started off on our walk to wrigley (grape juice in hand) in our matching purple shirts.

we were technically in two different sections: 202 & 215 which stunk b/c they were actually checking tickets. so we went our separate ways after getting beers. kyle and i had seats 2&3 and thought it was weird that the computer would sell seats like that as it left the seats on either side of us empty. we decided that if no one showed up by 8ish, they belonged to the girls! so i tried calling and texting and calling and texting, but i couldn't get angie to answer or pick up. dangit!! so i went over to their section, found em and hauled em back to our section which had a much better view and the 4 of us were able to rock out to elton and billy together for the rest of the concert.

elton wows em!! yes he does...

elton and billy came on together at first. then just elton. then just billy. then the two of them together played some of the really really well known songs like piano man and uptown girl and a whole ton of others. it was AWESOME!!!!!!

elton + billy = awesome concert:

after the concert, the debauchery was far from over... matt and elizabeth had rented a school bus to take everyone to john barleycorn's which is located about a block from wrigley. most of the people were from out of town that came to the wedding and so everyone went out on the town that night. the wedding was that sat.

so, wendy and angie took off after the concert and kyle and i headed to barleycorn. kyle didn't stay very long, but once i got there and couldn't have been more excited to see simon who worked with me at nnn. and of course matt and then chris who is matt's brother in law (i'm good friends with becky, matt's sister), and matt's little brother, stephen, who i hadn' seen in a million years. i was offered many drinks once i got there including a patron shot. i managed to say no to that, but yes to a lemon drop... eh... you know... mixing is good! then vodka drinks followed - by the time i had gotten there everyone was hammered (me included). then somebody wanted patron shots and this time i decided that was a good idea (it wasn't) and so i did one of those.

at one point, i decided that i needed to go home so i left. i have no idea what time it was, but i knew that i was way too drunk and could probably be sick. so i walked home and as i left chris followed me out to make sure i was ok and that i could get home ok and i told him "sure! i'm fine!". um, yeah, if by fine you mean rip roaring drunk! so i walked the half mile or so home - but instead of going immediately home, i thought a drunk trip to walgreen's for easy mac was clearly a good idea. so i got a bunch of those and ate one. in all honesty (and rather scary) i have to admit, i don't remember walking to or from walgreens, but i do remember being in walgreens. i did end up getting rather sick, then passed out, and woke up with a massive massive hangover that lasted just about the entire day. it was pretty horrible. but the whole night was a lot of fun!!

i 'heart' matty!!

holy crap! stephen is 21 and can drink! stephen is matt's little brother who was also his best man (well, one of them) and i first met him as a summer intern when he was like 14 at our company. my drunkeness here is showing my disbelief that he is 21 (please note the fingers):

brooke, matt, and me - see i wasn't the only drunky drunk! brooke also worked at nnn in ca and lived in nyc while i was there:
