ohhhhhhh mexxxxxxico!

i cannot get this james taylor song out of my head!!

Way down here you need a reason to move
Feel a fool running your stateside games
Lose your load, leave your mind behind, Baby James

Oh, Mexico
It sounds so simple I just got to go
The sun's so hot I forgot to go home
Guess I'll have to go now

on dec 30th, i left houston for manzanillo, mexico for mr matthew peter hoyt's wedding to sam. we spent a week there, returning on tuesday evening, the 5th. it was an easy flight and once i got to mexico, i waited for about an hour for the LA crew (sarah, kurt, annelise, preston, megan olsen, her bf greg, aj, and ian) to land. allen and his new wife, clara, had arrived a day earlier. once they made their way through customs, we found our van and made our way to the house that aj had rented on behalf of us all. http://www.mexicorentalsonline.com/index.html

a close up view of the manzanillo/peninsula area where we were:

click on the map to see it bigger and it'll show you where in mexico manzanillo is... i had no idea before i went exactly where i was going... further, i had never even heard of manzanillo!

it's called casa las brisas and is on the santiago peninsula in a gated community. the house is an 8400sf, 5 suite, 8 bathroom casa with 270 degree views, 2 pools and the most amazing views of the ocean. it's very close to the tennis courts as well. it was about a ten minute (very hilly) walk to the hoyt's amazing casa and the beach.

we even had a staff: domingo and his wife josefina and a maid and a chef and it was absolutely amazing to have the fridge restocked with water, beer and food almost magically! the food was ready when requested and picked by us from the menu the day or two before and it was delicious!! we ate breakfast complete with fresh squeezed oj every morning indoors at the dining table which had spectacular views and when we ate lunch or dinner it was outside in the palapa by the pools.

a view of our breakfast area... the windows must have been 30 feet tall and had stunning ocean views. what an amazing way to wake up!!

the palapa - no idea who this is... for this post i 'borrowed' all photos from the las brisas website...

we even had laundry service which i found out when i put my dirty clothes in the basket as a place to keep them separate from the clean ones! who knew!! magic laundry was the best!!

the double pools.

fabulous view!!! and while i didn't technically take this pic, we did see many sunsets just like this!

the couples all had their own suites and the three single boys (preston, aj, and ian) shared the master suite with a king bed and an inflatable mattress. they apparently took turns rotating the beds. sarah and i took the two twin beds room which we decided was for the unloved stepchildren in the family since there was no balcony, a garden view, and a small bathroom! it was still a great room though and besides, who planned on spending much time in it anyways?! and for our getting ready needs, we just commandeered the boys' master bathroom!

me and sarah's quarters:

one of the other suites with a fabulous balcony and view

the master suite... check out that huge window! the website says their suite plus balcony is 1600sf! that's bigger than my condo!!!

yes my favorite was taking over the boys bathroom on several occasions. they seemed quite perplexed by us girls taking over.
