scripps ladies, you are just about the only ones to read this... and leslie, you count... so last week was the 5c happy hour get together. we had a great turn out! however, i was the oldest alum by a bit. ok a fairly sizeable bit... there were a bunch of scrippsies in the 07-09 range, a pomona, a pitzer, a mudder or two, and cmc all represented.
we started talking about the dorms we had lived in and i mentioned i'd been in kimbo freshman year and i was that room above the door where you could hear everyone on the intercom calling to the various rooms. that's when a 09 scrippsie made me feel rather old... she's all, hunh?! what do you mean intercom?! wait, that's what those green boxes were for?! those were intercoms?! omg, you didn't have cell phones!?!? i always wondered what those green boxes were for!!! (not verbatim, but close enough) honestly, i about died laughing. i really did. so i had to explain to her and everyone else at the table how when we had visitors, they had to call up via the intercom so that we could come and get em. that i did have a cell phone, but it stayed in the car for emergency use only as it was big and had like 10 mins of air time to use.
i don't feel that old, but yeah, i guess those green intercom boxes would be obsolete with everyone having a cell phone these days.... ahhahaaha... and to top it all off no one there knew what ICQ was. anyone else out there hear the 'uuuuh ohhh' in high pitch announcing a new message?!?!

and i thought the graduates were smart. can i smack that bitch?
i was at dinner on friday when preston told this girl he was 30. her response? OMG i'm dying that i'm turning 25. it's like SO old. my life is over.
i wanted to finish her life.
Haha...that's funny about the intercoms. Isn't this our last year in GOLD? Man, we are getting old!!! I remember when the dining halls were in the dorms!
uhhh ohhh! i love this story!!
hahaha sarah your comment made me laugh.
and yes, holly it is technically our last year in gold....
i will say, they all won points when they said i looked nowhere near an 01... they woulda guessed 06ish. :)
sh-t we're old. yet we don't look a day older than 24.
i'm so dumb, i couldn't figure out why the intercoms were dinosaurs until the cell phone part of the story... didn't even occur to me. how annoying would it be to romp around the 5c's all the time, stumbling around drunk, worrying about losing your cell phone in addition to your keys. that would've sucked. we were there at a simpler time.
c - i was totally with you... i had no idea they were dinosaurs!! the look on my face when i was telling the story of one time overhearing a dumb boy lying to kendra down the hall was priceless i'm sure b/c that is what prompted the whole, what?! why didn't he just use his cell phone?! and that's what those green boxes were for?! i felt really old...
and while we are reminiscing... remember when we all had those green scripps key rings?! and we carried our id's that bought everything? mine always seemed full... what the heck else did i carry around?! not like we needed any money back then...
