the derbs - part two.

derby!! it's known as the fastest (or most exciting) two minutes in sports... and while it is super exciting, there are races going on all day with a huge amount of betting, conversing, and mint julep sipping! and this year, animal kingdom took the title!!

these two cracked me up - they were there both days and dressed identically both days!

in the background is tim & his cousin rory. i ended up hanging out with the two of them most of the night but danggit, i didn't get any other pictures of rory later. in the front is kaywan. he grew up near kyle and is her brother's close friend.

after leaving the downs, we headed for a bite to eat on 4th st promenade downtown and then we headed to the pendennis club for some cocktails and dancing!

Tara Reid, Cuba Gooding Jr., Richard Branson and members of the New England Patriots have all attended the bash. [bet you guys had no idea i was so swanky!! and no, i spotted no celebs] In recent years, the event has received attention from national news outlets, including ESPN. it is a private club in Louisville, Kentucky. It was established in 1881 and modeled in part on English gentleman's clubs. It took its name from William Makepeace Thackeray's novel Pendennis (1848-50). Sometime in the 1880s, the club was the birthplace of the Old Fashioned, possibly the first mixed drink to be called a cocktail.

in any case, one of kyle's dad's friends hosted a dinner there and then invited us to this swanky private event.


tom (i had a crush on this one, but he doesn't have fb - i have rory's fb and we're friends so i figured i'd be able to stalk tom too. umm, no. booo!) and the other guy is a cutie who was graduating from wakeforest the following weekend!!


after the pendennis club, stef and i headed out with tom and rory to a bar on bardstown road for some more drinks and fun. kyle and trish were meeting up later. we had a blast! but i got shy about taking pictures with the guys that i had a crush on (ok, i liked em both, i admit it!!) and i have no idea why i didn't take any more pics. cause danggit, we were cute!!


and then the next day, it was time to literally shove everything in to the car and head home after a ridiculous amount of fun! trish was the master packer and i've got to tell you there was no extra space at all! and the girls in the backseat sat with a bunch of hats and some bags as well! my car was rather loaded down and heavy! thanks to kyle and her family for such a wonderful wonderful amazing derby weekend for the second year in a row!!
