leeet meeeee OOOOOUT!!!!!!!

otis was technically yawning here but then he was promptly back to telling me forcefully that he'd really like to go outside today. i don't blame him. it was a great day (june 5th)...

he tried just about everything. maaaaaybe if i push a little harder with my head i'll get out of here! and yeah, that'd be brick wall otis.

what if i try sitting and looking at you?! then?! (yes, i'm putting words in a cat's mouth)

sorry, bud, you won't get outside on that side of the sliding door either. although he did get his claw stuck in the screen and i wish i had a picture of that b/c it was pretty funny.

nope. sadly otis did not get his freedom today nor did he get it the last couple of days because he's in trouble. big trouble!! i used to let him out as long as he stayed on my level only. and he was so good at that all last summer and the start of this year. he's tempting himself here...

and then... then he did the unthinkable and got brave. and decided to explore the deck above the garage (which technically is owned by the downstairs neighbors but i've never seen them use it). i decided he couldn't go anywhere so that would be safe and he was having so much fun! so i let him play.

and play he did the first day. and then he just decided to chill out there on the deck so i said, ok cool. and then the next day he got too confident and i got too relaxed and next thing i know i looked over (i was reading from my chair) and he was gone! i found the little jerk in my front yard and i was without my keys which i need in order to access that gate and the second gate in to the front yard and sidewalk. coaxing him back through the gate proved fruitless and otis decided to head out to the sidewalk. as any nervous mom knows, that means the street is right there! and otis doesn't know what a street is! so instead of losing sight of him to go get my keys, i decided to scale the gates. finally i got him and then i had to get back over the two gates. with the cat. first one was easy enough - it's fairly low. second one i definitely needed both hands. ummmm, if i put him down he's so totally going to run away again! jerk!!! so. eventually i shoved him through the gate and made so much noise, he ran to the back of the house and i was able to hop over. so he's been banned from the balcony/deck for the foreseeable future. naughty naughty boy!!!!!

that would have given me a heart attack.
do they make leashes and harnesses for cats?

yes. they do. however, when i tried it several years ago in nyc (i wanted to let him on my balcony but was terrified he'd tried to jump up on the ledge and that was the 19th floor!)and he hated it! and it didn't fit him. i guess i could try again - with a small dog size harness...

and i did have a heart attack/panic attack!

of course you can court - otis loves to hear how great he is. and i might be biased but he's the best cat in the world!

adorable, feisty otis. he's so cute!

don't blame you - i'd ban him for LIFE. cars are scary business, otis, very scary business.
