scrippsies back on campus....part 2

devs asked some interesting questions on her blog about reunion that i feel compelled to try and answer for at the very least myself. i haven't come across any one who thinks going back for 10 year reunion for a college is weird... though high school seems to be the typical reunion people attend. but i do know a few others who are planning to attend their college reunion - to wittenberg college for one. as for why i feel so compelled to return to scripps... i've decided it is a whole big mixture of things - some concrete, others not so much. quite simply, i count my bestest of friends from those college days - those who will always be there for me and vice versa. the gorgeous campus, the awesome dorms that i'd still live in if possible, the dining hall get togethers for meals, someone always around to talk to or hang out with or study with, the rose garden, the other campuses, the fun parties, the traditions, the teas, the friendliness of the community, the smallness of our environment, the ability to be and do what we wanted... the list goes on and on... in essence, to me it isn't one thing or one memory that i can boil it all down to, it's everything.

and with that said, some of us made our way to brunch after (mostly) brushing off our hangovers (again, please remind me later that i am NOT a college gal again!) and then made our way to campus for a bit...

we appeased our tummies at walters...

and then headed over to seal court to check out the scripps store and the motley... it was a gorgeous day!

and the margaret fowler garden was beautiful as usual...

i caught devs being the amazing photographer that she is!

and we drank in the smells of the rose garden... gorgeous!

and of course we took a picture with "our wall".

and we cruised around the dorms checking out the old place... so many fun fun times there. so many memories.

and we had to see the back of the dorm - and lara's and my balcony!! gosh i miss those days of walking in to her room via the balcony.

it was definitely a day full of reminiscing and memories... and even sadness.... missing that life of a pretty long time ago... how could this all have been 10+ years ago!? when, and how did that happen!? but also a profane gratefulness for everything that i have experienced and will experience because i choose to go to scripps and make it my home for 4 years.

perhaps the attendees of larger universities don't quite relate to the school-organized reunion? 20,000 undergrads at my school....can't imagine ~5,000 folks going back to davis for a 10 year reunion.

another benefit of a small school!
