i love traffic cops.

so i went out for a bit to the container store this afternoon. i've decided i really really needed some hooks by the front door. on the way home i saw flashing lights behind me. oh yes, i got pulled over. and i'm thinking what the fuck?? i haven't done anything wrong. i wasn't speeding, i had my turn signal on and i went thru on a green arrow so what the hell?! well, turns out my sticker is expired. i NEVER got any notice about it being about to expire or that is was expired. the cop was such an asshole. he took away my license and i don't get it back until i go to court on 2/26 b/c that's the rules in this state. are you kidding?!?!?! so i told him that i was flying out tomorrow and he said well you don't have any other id? and i'm all nope. that's it. he tells me to go get a state id and i tell him that my flight is tomorrow morning. he says, well too bad. so now i have this stupid piece of paper that is my 'license' until i get to go to court and get my real one. he said as punishment the fine goes away but they like to inconvenience us for making a mistake. what a stupid freaking rule that is. i was so pissed. and very thankful that i have a passport. i would have been screwed and even more pissed!!! i probably shouldn't be lying to cops, but i don't think they should be taking away my license for something so flipping stupid!!!!! it's not like i did it on purpose. and it's not like i was driving drunk. you can take my license for driving drunk. that makes sense. not having the right sticker does not make sense. arghghghghghgh

today.

well, today has been fun. i walked to the gym which is a little more than half a mile. it's freezing here. and by freezing i mean below zero. and then i did an hour long pilates class - my third this week! then i ran over to walgreens to pick up nail polish remover and some cereal. then i came home at sat down at the computer to email. while at the computer, my door buzzes and so i go to my intercom and find out it's ups and there is a package for me. since i'd only planned on running down and grabbing it and running back upstairs, i didn't put on any shoes. ugh, then i ran out and shut the door behind me. oh yes, it was locked. i can't believe i did that! i was so mad at myself. are you kidding?! and i literally was just talking to someone about how i was afraid i'd do that some day and was hyper aware of making sure the door is unlocked. well, i guess b/c the cat was wanting out and b/c i just wasn't thinking, i shut the door behind me and locked myself out. luckily my downstairs neighbor was home and let me use her phone. we chatted for about half and hour and then the locksmith showed up. he tried his special tools - that he told me come from home depot, wow, that makes me feel safe - and then those didn't work. so he had to drill out the inside of my lock and i was all oh fabulous, how much more is that going to cost me!? but, at that point i didn't care - i was frozen and my feet were blocks of ice. yes, i have an interior entrance/stair area, but it isn't heated and it's cold! so he drilled it out and i got it. it cost me 85 bucks today. and it'll cost me another 15 tomorrow b/c he has to come back and replace the core that he drilled out. yay! so there goes 100 bucks for a stupid stupid mistake. now, you might be thinking doesn't someone else have your keys?? and yes, they do. but alice, kim, and nicole are all at work and i have no idea what their phone numbers are b/c they are just in my cell phone. and the cell phone was in my house. behind the locked door. i will be giving my downstairs neighbors a set of my keys stat. geez.... it better be a good something in that box!!!

usc vs. nd

no, i didn't get to go to the game, but kelley and erica were here and i did get to see them briefly!! the girls came in to town on thursday, so i was able to meet up with them for happy hour, dinner, and more drinks before they left for the sc/nd game in south bend. we met up at luxbar which is one of kelley's favorite places, then we went to frontera for dinner and then we went to hub 51 for more drinks and to meet up with a couple other of her friends in town for the game. finally we headed to the tavern where we had yet more to drink, met a ton of sc fans, and i got hit on by a 25 year old guy from LA who was in town for the game. he happened to be from houston and he grew up not far from me. he got my number and actually called the next day to see if i was going to the game. i would have gone - my friend meghan had an extra ticket for me and i could have taken the big crazy bus with the other girls, but i already had my plane ticket to go visit susan for a girls' weekend in NC! you'll see the post and the pics from that fun trip once i finally get the pics from alice's camera and tara's camera... those girls are terrible at getting them out even tho i keep bugging them!!
