meeting mason markstrom!

on monday night (the 16th), i got to meet the third of the three babies born in the same week! the last member of the trio belongs to matt and elizabeth. those of you who don't know matt, he's my buddy from NNN days... we've known each other since 03, i think. he's like a little brother and i love the guy. he happens to have married an awesome girl that he first met in ca at jess thompson's wedding which was in 05 (i think! if i remember correctly)... in any case... elizabeth lived in chicago and matt was moving here and when he got here he really didn't know many people... and the rest is history! last july they got married... and this july, they welcomed mason markstrom o'donnell!

yena (another former nnn coworker - now living in chicago!) and the adorable, not sleepy mason.
yena, mason and mason's hot mamma!

omg, just look at this lil guy!!! he looks just like matt - elizabeth even showed us matt's baby picture as proof... and yup, it's another baby matt!

mason is wearing the shirt i gave him... it's too cute and almost too small already!

he's such a good baby! could he potentially be piper's future bf?!

munchkin!!!!

in front of mason's first home!

yena, elizabeth and i took a walk down to damen to go to dinner at a place called jam. unfortunately, jam was closed and so we had to come up with another plan. we decided to walk down to division. we were going to eat at boundary, but it was a 30 min wait to eat outside... so we went next door to jerry's. unfortunately matt is out of town this week so he didn't get to join in on the fun. dinner was yummy and full of good times. mason was a little hungry, but he's such a good baby... he managed to wait until we were able to get back home. could this be piper's first friend? best friend?? potential first boyfriend?! hehehee. i'm loving all the babies!

trishy in chicago!

this past weekend, trish came to town! not only could she work in her company's waukegan office, but she got to meet piper, see the air and water show, and stay with me! she got in on friday (the 13th) in time for a late dinner at leona's.

at the air & water show, we got some ice cream - yum!!

and then watched some super cool planes and awesome tricks in the sky.

aren't we cute?! it was super hot, but the shade made it a really nice day

and then we went to visit devs and patrick... and piper! piper meets auntie trish! i love how her hand is pinching at her shirt. too cute!

awwwwwwww

baby loves trish's boobs! she definitely napped well there!

we all went up to the roof to check out the blue angels - we could see them sort of from the loft, but we wanted a better view. only the stupid planes decided they were done once we got up there. we kept thinking that the el was the jets. so disappointing!

i love this little girl!

i've never fed a baby before! i even got to burp her. and instead of belching like a lady, she would just fall asleep on my shoulder. i'm told her adorable outfit is courtesy of les.

after visiting with the larkins', we headed to the movies! we were dying to see eat, pray, love and so we did. trish enjoyed a pretzel while i went with the popcorn/drink combo. that was essentially our dinner since the movie started at 7. don't worry moms, we did go home and eat our leftovers from leona's and a cupcake that we'd brought home from molly's earlier in the day. yum!

and then on sunday, we met dev and piper and walked to brunch at birchwood kitchen. the food was yummy, the company was fantastic, and they had a great outdoor patio that was shady and perfect to just linger at. and they didn't even mind! it was great.

isn't dev a hot momma?! check out that bob. i mean, what a stroller!

unfortunately i don't have the other pictures from that day - trish took them with her fantastic new camera - she got some great shots of us at brunch and then of the planes.

after the planes did their thing, it was time to head back to my place so trish could get her stuff and head out to pick up her rental car and then on to waukegan for her work week. come back any time please!! and now... who's next?!

***now booking for the fall. please put in your request as soon as possible to ensure your accommodations!***

skydiving?!

on a random tuesday, stefanie and i booked ourselves half a plane ticket. i say half b/c we went up 13,500 feet and then: jumped out of it. on the 4th, at dev's place some of the girls were talking about skydiving and how they were going to get up early and go do it. well, that got the rest of us talking and both stefanie and i had always wanted to do it and just never had. and so we decided we would find a time and place and just go do it while we had some spare time. and so we did. we picked july 12th, a tuesday - b/c tuesdays are their deal (ie cheaper) days.

aieeeeeeeeee! our names are up on the board!!!

uhhhhhhh, what are we in for?!

putting on my awesome pink jumpsuit! yes, it's pink - they are sized by color and by chance i happened to be 'pink' in size!

stef and i are getting all suited up and getting some instructions from our tandem partners.

kyle came along to be our official photographer from the ground. we also had someone taking pics during our jump.

on the way to the plane... showing some excitement here!

there's no turning back now!!!

i am such a dork!!

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!

coming in for the landing!

yep, we did it! would i do it again?! ummm, maybe??? yeah, probably... but it was totally scary!!!

a totally random wednesday!!

just over a month ago, on july 7th i had quite the random wednesday! first, i met up with angie, kyle and stefanie for a lovely lunch at tavern. after a leisurely lunch (and a glass or two of wine) with my fellow unemployed gals, we headed over to the wit for another round up on roof, the rooftop bar (creative name, right?). the reason for our festive gathering that wed?? well, bachelor try-outs! yes ladies, i tried out.

me and angie - before trying out - at roof.

stef & kyle and me and ang hanging out at roof. the try outs were actually downstairs at the hotel, the wit. in one of the ballrooms.

i know you guys want to hear the story (and even if you don't), here it is! some friends decided to convince ang to try out for the bachelor. there was an open casting call on that day and so i decided i'd support her and go too. and then kyle said she wanted to go. and then we invited stef since we knew she'd probably be able to meet us since she is a fellow "what the heck should i do today" aka unemployed friend. neither stef nor kyle tried out, but they went along for the fun of it.

angie and i headed downstairs a bit early so that we could try and beat the crowd. even though we were there early, they were already getting things started so we were able to just jump on in and get going. i'm so glad we went down early - by the time we left, the place was nuts and auditions had only been open for an hour or so!

first, they had us fill out a form with a bunch of questions about ourselves. then they took a picture. then they had us file in to the screening room down the hall to wait for our names to be called. the wit has an awesome theater complete with plush chairs that have foot rests. while we waited, they showed us episodes of the bachelor. the season with bob... the unattractive curly haired guy that was supposed to be funny and had not been picked by trista. why in the world did we have to watch one of the worst seasons?! anyways, we weren't in there too long and then they had us wait in the hallway to be interviewed by one of their casting directors.

once we made it to the room with the casting director, they put mics on us and asked us more questions: who are you, why are you looking for love, why the bachelor, what do you do, etc etc. it didn't last very long, but i felt like i had a good rapport with the lady who interviewed me. she said they'd be letting us know in the coming weeks. and that was that. angie had a different casting person and she had about the same experience. afterwards, we headed back up to roof to meet up with the other girls.

we met them upstairs, told them all about the casting experience, and then angie and kyle went downstairs to have a smoke. while down there, it started to rain on me and stef and when we finally heard from the other two girls (who seemed to be gone an awful long time)... they told us to come to the lobby bar b/c they'd met some fun guys who wanted to buy us drinks. ummmm, ok.... so we did.

there were two guys: both traveling sales guys. when i first walked in i thought, wow, the one guy is tall and cute. this could be fun! and then he opened his mouth and i just didn't get his sense of humor at first. but he persisted and i finally started to get him and find him cuter and cuter. the other guy was his boss. and married. and super drunk. and hitting on kyle. though kyle didn't think so. she was wasted too. and then the boss invited us to dinner. at tavern. seriously?! um, no, i don't think so. but kyle was insistent we go, and i couldn't leave her alone, and so i went along for the ride. as did the other two. and back to tavern we went...

this is angie's new bf (mike) that came and met us at dinner too.

and these are the two guys that kyle met down in the bar. that's joe on the left, me, his boss and kyle.

after we ate, joey (as i called him and he hated) asked if i wanted to go for another drink: just us. ummm, ok! so we left... and said we'd meet them at another bar, jilly's. but first we stopped at whiskey blue. and then we went to jilly's. but they'd already left. there weren't many people there and it's mostly an old folks place... or older... anyways, they were playing some sinatra and so we decided to dance. later i learned the other girls had been there and danced too! haha. and then, definitely not needing any more drinks but not really ready to call it a night anymore, joe asked me if i wanted to go back to the lobby bar. i have no idea what time this was, but the bar was closed and the lobby people were rather rude, and he's all i'm staying here. and somehow i ended up in his room.... where we ended up passing out. yes, ladies, just passing out. after some room service in the morning and some joking around... he asked for my number and said he comes to chicago for work fairly often... he lives in indy. if you want to see his profile, we are fb friends... his name is joe faires. as to what has happened since then... well, we've texted... but unfortunately no, i have not seen him again. kind of a bummer, he was cute! and i ended up having a lot of fun...

I'm outta here!

i've got a couple of posts that are scheduled, but i won't be in the good ole USA when they are actually posted! i'm headed to belgium and france today for two weeks! roni's wedding is on the 28th and i couldn't be happier for her!

i'll sporadically be checking emails... so feel free to send those, leave comments, etc... i'll probably need them - i'll be traveling by myself abroad for the very first time! i'm a little nervous, but i know it'll be a great trip. my mom seems to think i'll have my own eat, pray, love moment and find the man of my dreams that just happens to live in chicago too... we shall see, stay tuned!

kid rock/bon jovi!!

as a big jbj fan and alum of several of his concerts (probably at least 5 of them), i of course had to go see him and kid rock at soldier field on friday, july 30th. they did not disappoint! it was such a fun show with such great seats... i'll admit, i joined the fan club just so i could get early tickets and better seats... haha... and it was sooooooo worth it! unfortunately, i was only able to buy 2 tickets at a time, but it turned out a bunch of our friends were going and we met up. before the concert, we ate some dinner, had a drink (or two) and then headed over to the stadium.

walking to soldier field: nicole, kyle, me and nicole's friend

soldier field in the background!

yay! bon jovi!!!!!!!!!!

kid rock played first... i surprisingly knew more of his songs than i thought i would... and i'll admit, he was hotter on stage and strangely sexy... it was weird b/c i don't find him attractive at all... until he was up there... btw - our seats were amazing!!!!

we were so close!!! unfortunately i was only able to buy 2 tickets at a time which is why just me and kyle were down here. nicole and her friend were in different seats.

see? that is a ripped stomach. maybe you had to be there in person...

alice was there on the floor too!

aaaaaaaaaaaand then it was bon jovi time!!! omg, i love jbj. a lot. i've been to many concerts. and this will definitely not be the last.

jbj and kid did a duet.

loving every minute and wishing our seats were even closer. so. much. fun.

liiiiiiiiiiiiivin' on a praaaaaaaaayer!

and some good ole chicago love.

afterwards, kyle and i headed over to burton place for a late night snack and more cocktails. we ended up staying out until 4:30am!! we met loads of boys, ate a ton of crappy food (ie mozzerella sticks), and drank a bunch of drinks! so. much. fun. i cannot wait for jbj to come back to town!!! you can bet this girl will be there!!

ravinia

ravinia is a beautiful outdoor venue just north of the city. they have concerts and various things going on during the summer season -everything from sting, to classical music, to musicals like annie get your gun, and all kinds of other bands/music - and it was one of those things i'd always wanted to do, but never had. so kyle and stefanie and i were talking about it, and decided to just do it and go! we picked a night, jumped in the car, and went to listen to.... beethoven's concertos!

the beautiful outdoor setting. it's a huge area and the lawn tickets are pretty cheap. everyone brings picnics and wine and drinks and all sorts of stuff with them. it's so much fun!! during bigger acts and on the weekends, the lawn gets packed. as in you can't see grass packed.

kyle and stef on our blankets and putting together our spread.

stef and me (please note sunglasses from the italy loot post)

giggles! and lots of fun!

angie came too...

and so did mike. and they brought their ginormous chairs!

i'm so sad that the summer is coming to a close - i wish there was more time to go see more things here and do more picnics!!
