division street madness

we all decided that we needed a girl's night out a couple of saturdays ago. it was right as everything was happening with dummy and i definitely needed a distraction. so ellen, megan, trish, alice, heather (trish's sister) all went out. we were going to have a cheap dinner and angels and mariachis on division street before going to the bars, but alice got their first and told us that the restaurant wasn't serving any food that night and only drinks. i can't remember why, but it was something lame. so we went next door to fuel to try them out. they are a new very modern and trendy looking place and we all thought: ok, cool. it was terrible! they have a lot of kinks to work out... first we had to wait at the bar forever for a table which isn't surprising b/c it's a new place on a sat night. however, when we walked in they told us it'd be just a few minutes and there were open tables available! so after waiting over 30 mins, we finally got sat. so that was annoying. our waitress was super slow and their menu is basically just pub grub. cheap, yes, but not very good. there really was nothing exciting about the menu which was disappointing b/c the restaurant was really cool looking. a reviewer on yelp called it basically costco food warmed up. i'd concur. i just read the reviews b/c i was looking for some pictures which i didn't find.

after fuel, we headed to the boundary (also on division). it seemed like a pretty cool place to hang out. the bar area was pretty crowded. once we were there, kristen joined us and so did matt and elizabeth. ok, so matt isn't a girl but he lives over that way and i hadn't seen him in ages. besides he counts as a girl to me. alice left soon after arriving as she wasn't much in the mood to go out. after the boundary, we went to rodan in bucktown to meet up with kyle. she had literally just gotten back in to town after being gone for 3 weeks. her mom passed suddenly and she'd been in louisville. since i knew she could use some girl time, we all headed to the bar where we met a very very drunk kyle. of course, we were all drunk too. but not quite as drunk. kyle was there with her friend johann and his buddies. after being there for quite awhile, megan and trish decided to head over to another bar to meet a friend and matt and elizabeth headed home leaving me and kyle on our own. kyle and i headed over to nick's which is the late night bar next to rodan and johann joined us. the next thing i know, the three of us were walking back to his place for i have no idea what reason, but i'm sure whatever it was seemed like a great idea at the moment! i had decided i was on kyle's timeline as i was supporting her and knew she was a mess both from too much to drink and obviously her mom. so at johann's we decided we were hungry and he made us food. he literally pulled out the deep fryer (who has one of those?!?!) and made this dutch thing that looked like meatballs and french fries. we of course had some more beers to drink and around 4, we decided it'd be a good idea to go home. johann so graciously told us we could crash in his bed and he'd take the couch, but i was not about to do that! i don't know where that bed/sheets has been! besides, i had to get up relatively early the next day to go to heather's baby shower. so kyle and i left and grabbed a cab home. funny enough, we had walked by the bar megan and trish were at and i had wondered if they were still there but it was after 2 and we just kept walking to johann's place. turns out they were still there (can't remember the bar name at the moment) and they got home around 4 too. excellent night!
