riviera maya, part dos.

part dos:
we got brave and rented a car for a day! on friday, we drove down to akumal. it's a great little town that we've been to before. there is a fabulous little fresh/salt water area where you can snorkel - it's called yal ku. i think it's fabulous - so many beautiful fishies to see! after snorkeling around and taking some photos underwater (and the camera dying), we went for lunch at la buena vida in akumal. yum! it's one of those places i could see going to and hanging out on an almost daily basis if i lived down there... it sits right on the beach on this gorgeous bay with beyond clear water. there are tables on the sand. there are treehouses with buckets that will deliver your beer... while we were eating under our little thatched roof table, it started to rain. then pour. then clear. then pour again. we were already wet from snorkeling so it didn't matter much and the thatched roof kept us from getting soaked. after a late lunch, we stopped by a v. nice gift shop that we'd been to before. and then headed back to our resort. andrew didn't go b/c he had been sick and still wasn't feeling great. but it was such a fun day!

these fishies let me swim right in to them! there were hundreds!!

self portrait of me and mom. i love underwater self portraits even though i usually look awful!

another kind of fish.... dad!

pretty fishy. these pics just do not do justice to the actual colors of the fish!

hi fishy!!

ooooooh boy! here comes the rain!!

the restaurant on the beach... ahhhh, the good life!

mom and dad

since the camera had broken, these were taken with the iphone. dad was supposed to take a pic of me and mom, and we kept waiting for him to tell us he was ready...

we're dying laughing b/c he was taking them while we thought he was just getting things ready... hahaha...

ah, yes... here were are... he actually told us he'd be taking this one!

sitting under our thatched roof...
