a light hearted post.

to balance the out the heavy stuff, i thought i would intersperse with some more fun, light hearted fare!

this involves the always adorable, funny, and cuddly little blind kitten, lily. lily started a bad habit last year. she can be so naughty! and yet, she's just so cute...

this bad habit involves going potty. in the sink. yes, the sink. every once in awhile, you'll hear what sounds like the faucet running... not completely weird in our house as pyrrh likes to drink her water from the faucet and occasionally we forget to turn it off. but, last year mom would go investigate and be ready to turn off the faucet when she'd go in and see that there was no faucet on... just lily jumping down off the counter! and the smell of pee in the sink. LILY!!!! but, she didn't do it often and for awhile no one could catch her in the act or prior to stop her! she generally uses one of mom's two sinks in the bathroom... but she's been known to find others.

one night when i was in houston last november or december-ish, i had gone to bed after mom and dad and as my bedroom and bathroom are down a long hallway, i didn't both to close the bathroom door. about this same time, dad had gotten up to use his bathroom when he heard that running faucet noise down the hall... he started to rush down the hall towards my bathroom, when i called out - DAD! door's open! i'm in here! and he was half asleep/confused and mumbled something about how he thought it was lily peeing in the sink again and he had wanted to stop her. i think it's funny.

in fact, at first when mom told me about this new habit, i thought it was so gross.... and then i decided it was just really really funny. she said, yeah, she's not peeing in your sink! sooooo.... fast forward awhile and after trying rather hard to make her stop, mom realized that this was just not something that she could deal with and said, whatever. fine. i should mention that she doesn't alllllways use the sink... she's still a good girl and goes in her box too. she seems to alternate. and really, it is super easy clean up in the sink and no yucky litter to clean!

Anyways, because i find this so funny i always wanted a picture or video of her doing this! but, darn cats are so unpredictable and either i wouldn't have a camera nearby or i'd be too slow. until one night... when i finally was able to catch lily with my camera! no video, but i got two pictures before that speedy little blind kitten jumped down and went about with other kitty things!

what?! is there a problem?!

these just crack me up. but, mom and i actually came up with a theory. lily thinks it's totally normal! her sister 'pees' in the sink all the time! lily can't see... she has no idea what pyrrh is really doing at the sink when she's on the counter drinking water from the faucet. to lily, it must sound like she's peeing in the sink! and thus, since pyrrh gets to pee in the sink, clearly it's a-ok for miss lily to do so as well! Isn't she just so darn cute though?! i still need a video... pretty sure that would be a winner on youtube!!
