after my quick tour of paris, i bid adieu to the city and headed to belgium. it's an hour twenty to brussels where you change trains and then it is an easy hour north to bruges. i fell in love with this town!

i stayed at the adornes hotel which was super cute and awesome! this is the view from my window.

my hotel was both buildings. super cute!! and in a great area. close to the old town square and everything else. really... nothing is very far in bruges.

the bell tower!

along one of the canals.

the stonework in the old town square/bell tower area.

this is the area just inside the bell tower - it's a very pretty courtyard. i stopped to sit for a bit and look at my guidebook to figure out where i should head next.

this is a replica of the bell tower. it has braille descriptions in 4 languages! it was so cool.

this is the braille map - it had raised buildings that reminded me of monopoly and the streets were all written in braille.

dinner!!!! YUM! i ate in the old square which is super touristy, but it had great music - there was a festival going on that weekend - and it had great views. so i haaaad to eat in one of the restaurants. i picked one with a great patio (they all had one) and a nice table for one and sat. and ate what would become a typical menu: mussels, frites, and beer!

my dessert! YUM!!!!

after dinner, i headed upstairs to use the restroom. as i came up - i saw this mannequin out of the corner of my eye - and it scared me half to death! i thought it was a real guy and it made me do a double take!

i think i could have mussels and frites almost every day and be A-okay. my fave is the picture with you and the book. it's like you live there and someone wanted to take a cute picture of where all the girls read their books.
that guy just scared the sh*t out of me. i think i would have had a heart attack if i saw it in person.
love the photos!!!
