riding along one of the tree lined back roads. please note the exceptionally large tractor heading toward us... it was not the only large vehicle heading down the same street!
we stopped at this windmill along the way - it really was working that day and it came complete with a tour guy who showed us how it all worked.
i forget the guy's name or maybe he never told us, but he was so cute! he's a retired fireman who does this as a retired guy wanting something fun to do.
after the bike tour was over, i decided to climb the bell tower b/c clearly 6 hours on a bike wasn't enough exercise for me... these are some of the super narrow stairs inside the tower.
rick steves and several other tour books say this is the best chocolate in town. i was ecstatic with my map navigational skills and that i found it. so much so i bought a shit ton of chocolate. some of which i managed to bring home with me. and it was delicious!
before dinner, i asked someone to take a picture. it was lovely lighting, the sun was setting. you can see the bell tower in the background. it was also across the street where i decided to get my daily fix of mussels. and beer. and frites.the best part was this courtyard where you could just go outside and grab any number of the bikes you wanted that are stored out there. if you look behind the big table, you can see there are probably 20 or 30 bikes there. and it's all free. and everyone rides a bike in bruges. locals and tourists alike! i loved that!

i am laughing: 'forgot to take photo before i slept in the bed' ... as if you are incapable of making the bed. but you WERE on vacation, and i don't make the bed when i stay in a hotel either, duh! plus, i like the look of that unmade bed in that cute room.
fave pics: you on bike, you with bell tower in bkgd, mussels/frites/biere (mmm).
sounds like a perfect day!
and devs i too was laughing at the bed comment. i was laughing more that she could have made the bed herself if it was that important.
